Thursday 7 May (5.00 pm, garden of the Municipal Library) the launch of Tamara Vitan’s poetry collection
A collection of poems dedicated to “that fragile part that does not know the way, that keeps its eyes closed” when faced with the idea of an incurable illness; yet which, at the same time, is searching for “traces, signs of something greater”. With these words, Tamara Vitan invites readers to explore her book “La Salvezza compie passi piccoli” (Salvation Takes Small Steps), which will be presented in the garden of the “Vallesiana” Municipal Library on Thursday 7 May at 5.00 pm.
The evening, which will be introduced by the Councillor for Culture, Franco Spina, will feature the poet Annalisa Ciampalini, as well as, of course, the author of the collection, who, as she herself recalled, drew inspiration from certain feelings provoked by a “terrible verdict” – the illness of a friend – and from the desire to “walk alongside her within this awareness, hold her hand, accompany her” .
“I would like,” Tamara Vitan remarked recently, “for everyone to find something in this book that strikes right at the ‘core’ of the fragility we all share in this world, and for this shared condition to serve as a catalyst for feeling and perceiving life more deeply in all its wonder.”
Tamara Vitan, who lives in Castelfiorentino, attends the poetry school founded by Massimiliano Bardotti and has already published several collections. Fascinated by religions, she is convinced that poetry can act as a bridge between the miracle of life and the mystery of death.
“A poignant collection of poems,” remarks the Councillor for Culture, Franco Spina, “which also serve as a moving testimony, where anxiety about the future hangs by a thread of hope, of life, and of the desire to seize the moment and appreciate the wonder of the world around us. “I would like to thank Tamara, our fellow citizen, for giving the public the opportunity to attend the launch of this book, which confirms not only the cultural vitality but also the poetic sensibility of our community.”
In the event of rain, the book launch will take place in the Library’s Fondo Antico.
