A theatre scriptwriter, in crisis and somewhat depressed, can no longer find the inspiration and creative imagination to write a new script. She spends her days playing Mahjong, an ancient Chinese game, on her own. An unsustainable situation, for which she is constantly reprimanded by the theatre director.
This is the plot of “Unità di crisi” (Crisis Unit), a play that the SpiAttori di TeatroCastello theatre company will bring to the stage of the Teatro del Popolo on Saturday 14 March at 9:00 p.m. To the disoriented screenwriter’s rescue comes a “crisis unit” made up of characters from her old plays, who, with their impetuosity, their madness and their ideas, help her regain her self-confidence and, above all, her desire to write.
The performance will be staged by eighteen members of the company, which now has proven experience in theatre and is also well known among local audiences: The show will feature Maria Grazia Baldi, Vita Beninati, Luciano Bertini, Ena Bianchi, Tamara Bracali, Carlo Campinoti, Roberta Cantini, Graziella Coco, Floria Fiaschi, Renzo Fiaschi, Augusta Elena Giglioli, Lucia Mannucci, Isa Micheli, Mariella Niccolini, Nicoletta Nozzoli, Rossana Parri, Lucia Taddei and Rosanna Ulivieri. Written by Agusta Elena Giglioli, the show is directed by Lucia Taddei and Diego Conforti. Set design by Roberto Fusi and Fabio Marini.
‘The Teatro del Popolo,’ emphasises Franco Spina, Councillor for Culture, ‘has always been a point of reference for many theatre companies operating at a local level, such as TeatroCastello’s SpiAttori, where the exchange of experiences and the transversality of theatrical language coexist, capable of uniting generations in a shared passion for theatre. A theatre of the people and for the people.’
