Sunday 10 May (9.00 pm) A musical evening organised by the “G. Verdi” Philharmonic Orchestra, featuring two special guests and the participation of students from the Music School.
An evening of great music and entertainment, suitable for everyone: adults and children alike. This is the essence of the “Spring Concert” scheduled to take place at the Teatro del Popolo in Castelfiorentino on Sunday 10 May at 9.00 pm.
Organised by the Premiata Filarmonica “G. Verdi” of Castelfiorentino, the concert – conducted by Maestro Stefano Mangini – will feature two special guests: baritone Gabriele Spina, who will perform “Il Maestro di Cappella”, a comic intermezzo composed by Domenico Cimarosa, alongside the Philharmonic, and Lorenzo Baglioni, narrator in “Peter and the Wolf”, Sergei Prokofiev’s famous musical fairy tale that will enchant young and old alike with the story of the protagonist, who leaves home to explore nature and interacts with the animals he encounters along the way. The concert will also feature pupils from the Castelfiorentino Municipal School of Music.
Cimarosa’s intermezzo, in particular, is a humorous parody of the conductor and the various instrumentalists, who repeatedly attempt to perform a specific piece but fail to start playing their instruments at the right moment, until the ‘maestro’ – humming along – manages to make them understand. Adapted to refer to the instruments of the marching band, the text proves to be a useful and entertaining piece for introducing the audience to the various instruments that make up the band.
“Sunday’s concert,” emphasises the Councillor for Culture, Franco Spina, “is a musical evening open to a wide audience – adults as well as children – thanks to the variety of pieces that will be performed by our Philharmonic Orchestra and the students of the Music School, alongside these two guests, whom I would like to thank in advance for their presence. An event that will round off a day packed with activities, such as ‘Agricola’, the classic car rally, and ‘Bici in Città’”
