Thursday, March 23 (6:30 p.m. – Sala Rossa City Hall) Presentation of the book by Paolo Lunghi.

Over sixty stories of the characters who have made Radio great since the advent of private radio. A unique collection of testimonies recounting the epic of “free radio” through its protagonists: famous DJs and conductors, visionary entrepreneurs and tireless technicians, “sacred monsters” and “infiltrators”; a valuable reportage on the past but also on the present and with an eye to the future, hypothesizing the probable media scenarios in a world in which Radio will still make its voice heard.

This is the calling card of the book “The Radio Dreamers. Extraordinary Stories and Characters of Radio,” which author Paolo Lunghi will present in Castelfiorentino on Thursday, March 23, 6:30 p.m., in the Sala Rossa of City Hall. The mayor, Alessio Falorni, the deputy mayor with responsibility for culture, Claudia Centi, and finally Claudia Firenze, as well as the author, of course, will speak. Journalist Francesca Pinochi will moderate the evening.

A pioneer and founder of the first Free Radios in the 1970s, Paolo Lunghi wrote this book to enhance, above all, the “human devices” that have made Radio great over the past fifty years, almost “an unprecedented choral tribute to the longest-lived communication medium of the contemporary era.”

The Radio Dreamers is thus presented as an interesting and entertaining document that can offer valuable insights to those who gravitate around the radio world and spur their ambition toward that creative quality increasingly able to make a difference in an ever-changing market.

“We live in an age,” the author notes, “in which technology has reached such high standards that people think that talent is a matter of pixels, that the quality of music is judged by likes, and that reality is what is experienced through computers and smartphones. Instead, radio is still an instrument that always tells the truth. And today, in retracing its origins, the verdict mercilessly emerges of how useless technology is without talent, how ideas are more important than means.”

“We are happy,” stressed the mayor, Alessio Falorni, “that Paolo Lunghi is coming to present this book in Castelfiorentino, which in an original way has been able to tell so many small stories of “free radio” through its protagonists, from those best known to those who perhaps have made themselves better known in other areas of social and cultural life, the world of entertainment or entrepreneurship. A book in which individual personal experiences are intimately linked to those gifts of creativity and talent that are increasingly indispensable for the success of any initiative.”
