Twelve evenings of live music, all with free entry, featuring a street food area, a funfair and other events dedicated to sport and leisure. This is the hallmark of the “FDB Festival”, one of the most eagerly awaited and vibrant events of the summer season, which will take place in Castelfiorentino (FI) in the stadium area on Viale Roosevelt from Wednesday 2nd to Sunday 13th September. A festival brimming with energy, now in its seventh year, where every evening you can enjoy a concert, have fun on the funfair rides, or sample the myriad of delicacies to eat on the go (or at a table), accompanied, as always, by a wide selection of craft beers. It kicks off with a bang on Wednesday 2 September (6.00 p.m.) with the opening of the food area and the luna park, which will spark an explosion of joy and merriment with breathtaking attractions for all ages, from adults to children.
Even the most discerning palates will have nothing to complain about, with a wide range of unique and tempting flavours to choose from: from Apulian black pork ribs to artisanal pulled pork; from octopus sandwiches to paella; from fried squid and prawns to seafood sandwiches; from “gnummareddi” to lampredotto and Florentine specialities; from fried pizza to the Neapolitan mixed “coppo”, as well as burgers in every possible style, chips, doughnuts, crêpes and ciambelle. In short, our advice is to come hungry! As we mentioned at the start, there’ll be plenty of craft beers on offer, as befits the spirit of the event.
The festival’s first concert (Wednesday 2 September – 9.00 p.m.) will see “Killer Queen”, the Queen tribute band, take to the stage, followed on Thursday 3 by “Indie Power” (Italy’s biggest indie festival) and on the 4th by “Metempsicosi. Dinosaurus Tour”, leading figures in Italian electronic music. On Saturday 5 September, an evening of sing-alongs with “Mamamia on tour”, featuring a drag queen show and dancing, whilst on Sunday 6 September, “Incubo + Hara” will take to the stage. Monday 7 September promises a legendary evening with “Anthology MJ tribute”, dedicated to the unforgettable King of Pop, Michael Jackson. On Tuesday 8 September, “Living Theory”, whilst on Wednesday 9, “Pinguini Tribute”, a journey through the greatest hits of Italian pop across the generations. On Thursday 10 September, everyone raise your hands to enjoy the concert entitled “Azzurro”, featuring the greatest hits of Italian music, whilst on Friday 11, “Fuego”, the Latin urban party. On Saturday 12th, a FDB Festival classic: “I Want to Go Back to the ’90s”, Italy’s most beloved live show, which, with its infectious rhythms and some truly unique tracks, captivates all generations, from young people to adults. The festival concludes on Sunday 13 September with “Generazione Wanni”, a live show and DJ set.
But that’s not all. As well as the artists and bands, there will be plenty of space for a range of side events to enrich the programme, such as a static display of sports cars, classic cars and motorbikes (Saturday 12th), presentations by sports teams, dedicated activities for children and teenagers to introduce them to cycling, and so on.
The FDB Festival is organised under the patronage of Castelfiorentino Town Council, with the support of numerous sponsors.
“The FDB Festival,” emphasise Mayor Francesca Giannì and Councillor Gianluca D’Alessio, “has now become a well-established and much-anticipated event in Castella’s summer calendar, attracting a wide and diverse audience every year, whilst demonstrating a particular ability to engage the younger generations.
The musical programme for this seventh edition is particularly rich and varied.
Its strength lies precisely in its ability to combine music, socialising, sport and leisure, offering a space for meeting and sharing aimed primarily at young people, but open to all ages.
As the local council, we are therefore particularly pleased to support an event that places participation at its heart and helps to make Castelfiorentino a lively, dynamic place, capable of offering young people real opportunities to get together and experience the local area.”
