A famous Florentine Youtuber shot this morning a video on the secrets of the fortress designed by Filippo Brunelleschi. Mayor Falorni: “We’ll see him again soon”.
A brilliant and easy-going communicator, a friendly and true Florentine. This is how Pietro Resta, aka Wikipedro, a young youtuber well known to the general web audience for his videos that tell about Florence, its characters and its artistic heritage, and who came to Castelfiorentino (FI) this morning to reveal the secrets of the Castello di Oliveto, designed by Filippo Brunelleschi.
Wikipedro was welcomed by the Mayor of Castelfiorentino, Alessio Falorni, who was happy to accompany him on an initial reconnaissance tour inside the Castle, where numerous “proofs” are scattered around, certifying without a shadow of doubt Brunelleschi’s authorship of this fortress, “a work of military engineering” according to recent studies conducted by Professor Massimo Ricci.
From here a first inspection of the defensive system, at the top of the Castle, walking between the Towers and along the “internal guard path”, a solution which sought to give an answer to the threat represented by the advent of gunpowder, already present in the use of the first “bombards”.
And then the other places that bear the “signature” of the architect of the Dome of the Cathedral: the portals, the “well”, the “gallery” defined as “impossible” by Prof. Ricci, in that “it could not stand in static equilibrium”, but which in reality has remained intact for more than six hundred years. Almost a challenge to the force of gravity that we also find in the Florentine dome.
“I was amazed by such beauty – Wikipedro remarked – it’s always a joy for me to visit the Villas and Castles of our Tuscany, which tell centuries of history, the vicissitudes of the noble families who had established their country residence here. But this Castle has really impressed me: my dream is to go back there, to celebrate my wedding here”.

Wikipedro’s visit to the Castle was organized thanks to the collaboration between the property, the Municipality, the Proloco and the Tourist Office, in the perspective of a wider reportage on Castelfiorentino that will see Wikipedro again telling about other places in the municipal territory (a second visit is scheduled in July).
