On Thursday, September 24 (5:30 p.m.), 100 participants are expected to attend the event organized by the Castelfiorentino Cycling Club

To learn how to develop the skills needed to ride and master a bicycle in any situation. This is the goal of the 3rd Skills Challenge – 6th Dogana Cup, which will take place on Thursday, September 24, at 5:30 p.m., in the hamlet of Dogana (Via Otto Marzo, Castelfiorentino). The event, organized by the Castelfiorentino Cycling Club in collaboration with the local Arci Club and sponsored by the City, is aimed at children ages 5 to 12, who will compete in races divided into different categories (from G0 to G6, based on age) along a circuit of approximately 150 meters.

About one hundred participants are expected, and Kristian Sbaragli—a board member of the Castelfiorentino Cycling Club and a highly regarded former professional cyclist from Castelfiorentino—will certainly be present at the event to represent the club.

The “budding” athletes will essentially take part in a sort of “obstacle course,” along which various types of obstacles will be scattered; they will have to slalom around cones, step over platforms, pick up objects while riding, and so on. Each participant will have two attempts, and the best one will count toward the final standings.

Skill competitions are among the most important activities for young cyclists and require balance, agility, and maneuverability. They serve as a sort of “training” for those who wish to pursue this sport, but they can also be valuable practice for anyone who is passionate about (or aspires to be) using a bicycle in their daily life.

“We are pleased to lend our support to this wonderful initiative,” emphasizes the Councilor for Sports, Gianluca D’Alessio, “which aims to support and promote a sport that has brought us enormous satisfaction in recent years, thanks to professionals such as Kristian Sbaragli, Alberto Bettiol, and, on the women’s side, Irene Puccioni—now a respected journalist—in the spirit of a well-established tradition and a passion shared at all levels, from the very young to adults. I’d like to thank Kristian in particular for his dedication to the Castelfiorentino Cycling Club, which is making a truly significant contribution, including in the organization of these events.”

The 3rd Skills Challenge—6th Dogana Cup is part of a broader regional project and marks the third event in the series, following those held in Siena and Santa Croce sull’Arno.
