It promises to be a gripping challenge in Castelfiorentino for all fans of Subbuteo, the world’s most famous table football “on the fingertips”. Sunday 11 February at the Circolo Arci “I Praticelli” will in fact host the Grand Prix Castelfiorentino, a regional tournament open to all members of the Federation (FISCT), for which about fifty players from a dozen Tuscan clubs are expected.
Promoted by the Subbuteo Club Castelfiorentino with the patronage of the Municipality (and the contribution of Banca Cambiano 1884 SpA), the Grand Prix will start in the morning (9.00 a.m.) once the registration of participants has been completed. The matches will last 20 minutes (10 minutes per half) and will be played on astropitch Subbuteo pitches. The tournament will be of the individual type with “Italian” rounds of 4 players, from which they will then proceed to the knockout phase, through to the finals.
Numerous prizes and a raffle open to all participants will be up for grabs. Possibility of refreshments (lunch) at the “I Praticelli” Arci club. Given the number of courts and the knockout mechanism, in the afternoon it will probably also be possible for those not participating in the tournament to play. The entry fee is €12 (to be paid directly at the venue on the day of the Grand Prix) To register for the Grand Prix (by midnight on Thursday 8 February): +39 338.7476169; +39 3381429119; +39 3335863620.
Widespread in Italy in the 1970s and 1980s and known in many countries around the world, Subbuteo made a comeback in Castelfiorentino about ten years ago, thanks to an initial nucleus of old fans who were later joined by several young people.
