In the gardens of Via XX Settembre Cinema, Theater and Tombola “under the stars” with stores open on Wednesday evening

Theater, Cinema, Open Shops and Tombola “under the stars.” Events at the Summer Arena and in Castelfiorentino’s historic center continue next week, kicking off Monday evening with the third and final event of the “Theater Outside the Theater” festival promoted by the People’s Theater Foundation.

On Monday, July 25 (Summer Arena, 9:45 p.m., admission 10 euros, reduced coop members 8) the Banda Osiris and Telmo Pievani will burst onto the stage, presenting “Aquadueo,” a musical show focused on environmental issues and particularly on the precious value of water. The plot develops around the consideration that planet Earth is “improbable and fragile,” having found itself “in the right place at the right time and around the right star.” Most of this planet is actually made of water, and this is questioned by five scientists who promote a symposium on “Water on Our Planet What Tomorrow?” through a series of experiments, a giant interactive whiteboard, a plethora of explanatory signs and many water bowls that even manage to play

Tuesday, July 26 (summer arena, 9:30 p.m., admission 3 euros) Cinema returns with “Raya and the Last Dragon,” an animated film directed by Don Hall and Carlos López Estrada, set in the imaginary kingdom of Kumandra inhabited by an ancient civilization

On Wednesday, July 27, “Castello Summer” returns with open stores and an evening of food, with aperitifs and music, moonlight dinners, “Marta’s” all-cream ice cream and – at the summer arena – “Taste at the Arena,” an event dedicated to the tasting of typical products accompanied by “glasses under the stars.” Finally, in Gramsci Square, a skateboard exhibition, with the possibility of trying this experience.

On Thursday, July 28 (9:30 p.m., free admission, or donation welcome) the summer arena will host the show “Seasons in the City” by the “Passi di Luce” company. A reinterpretation of the character of Marcovaldo by Italo Calvino that develops through four comic-poetic digressions “between concrete and nature,” centered on the tragicomic events of the protagonist. A “more optimistic” Fantozzi, in short, who punctually slams his face against harsh reality. The Nature he seeks (among asphalt, concrete and neon lights) is not the pristine one of country life, but a spiteful, counterfeit one, compromised with artificial life. The moon mingling with an illuminated sign, a detergent advertisement gone mad, a mutant potted plant and destructive gifts to push the toy market will act as a distorting mirror to our consumerist society. The show is performed by about 20 young actors from the company “Steps of Light” (directed by Niccolò Taddei and Jessica Pirrello), is suitable for all ages and deals with these issues in a light and funny way, with the spirit of children’s comics. The show is the first in the new review “L’Ora d’Aria,” the brainchild of Paolo Puccini and organized by TeatroCastello (14th edition), which will continue on Aug. 4 with a GAT show and on Aug. 11 with a TeatroCastello show.

On Saturday, July 30 (9:30 p.m., summer arena, admission 3 euros) a new film proposal: “Aria Ferma,” a film directed by Leonardo di Costanzo, set in a decommissioning prison, where only a few officers and very few inmates are left. The small group of inmates wait to be transferred to a new prison, but day after day the wait leads them to give less and less importance to the rules, which seem to have no more value. The prisoners find themselves forming a new, if very fragile, community. The film’s cast includes Silvio Orlando and Toni Servillo, starring together for the first time.
